CarneyVale: Showtime is available!
Hi folks! The first honest-to-goodness, publicly available console game from the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab is now downloadable from Xbox Live Community Games! It's called "CarneyVale: Showtime". If you've got an Xbox 360, download the trial and give it a shot. (And if any of you have friends who write for game review blogs, tell them to do the same!)

Of course, if you like it, you could buy it :) It's only $5 (400 Microsoft points) and every sale improves the chances of the GAMBIT initiative continuing past 2011.

If your Xbox 360 is connected to the Internet, you've probably been asked to upgrade your system software to the "New Xbox Experience." Do that first. If your startup menu on the Xbox already looks a bit like iTunes Cover Flow, you're already upgraded.

Once you're upgraded, from a fresh restart your Xbox, scroll (up/down) to "Game Marketplace", then scroll (right/left) to "Xbox Live Community Games" and select that. A bunch of games will show up on screen. Scroll to "New Arrivals", look for "CarneyVale Showtime", select it, and select "Get Trial Game". You should be able to download the game and start playing from there.

In the future, if you want to play it, you should go to "My Xbox">"Game Library">"Community Games">"CarneyVale Showtime". The steps in the preceding paragraph are just for downloading a game that you don't have yet.

Hope you enjoy it!

I don't think there's a way to "gift" a game on Xbox Live, but you could buy them an Xbox Live Points card (Target, Best Buy and GameStop are probably the easiest places to get them), and clip a little note recommending the game! :)
